The FDA approved Semaglutide and Mounjaro as part of weight loss treatment for adults dealing with chronic weight management. These medicines are a glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) that works as a naturally occurring hormone that signals the brain to regulate appetite and food digestion. Through these injections injections, the peptide is introduced into the body via the circulatory system, helping adults struggling with chronic weight decrease their appetite and feel fuller after meals. These medicines are marketed under names like Ozempic® and Wegovy®.

A typical \ dose can be used by anyone suffering from obesity, regardless of ethnicity, age, or BMI. However, the best candidates to receive these injections are overweight adults suffering from obesity (BMI levels of 30 or above) or related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, gastroesophageal reflux, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, or osteoarthritis. Patients using weight loss injections typically see a 10% to 16% decrease in body fat after consistent dieting and exercise.

When Botox® is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve messenger acetylcholine, from delivering the contraction message to the muscle. The muscle never receives the signal,
so it remains at rest.On the expressive upper third of the face, we constantly engage the muscles around our eyes, between the brows, and on the forehead when we make expressions such frowning or showing surprise. Over time we form hundreds of thousands of these contractions, plus our skin gradually gets thinner. This thinning allows wrinkles and lines to form on the surface skin above the muscle. These are glabellar lines (the 11s) between our eyebrows, lines our foreheads, and crow’s feet between our eyes and temples. These common areas have what are known as “dynamic wrinkles.” When Botox® is injected into the muscle forming any of these wrinkles it prevents the muscle from contracting, and the wrinkle on the surface skin is effectively erased.

Treatment with Restylane, Juvederm, and other dermal fillers can smooth out folds and wrinkles, add volume to the lips, and contour facial features that have lost their fullness due to aging, sun exposure, illness, etc. Facial rejuvenation can be carried out with minimal complications. These dermal fillers are injected into the skin with a very fine needle. The products produce a natural volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. The results can often be seen immediately. Treating wrinkles with these dermal fillers is fast and safe and leaves no scars or other traces on the face.

SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is a gel implant or dermal filler that is injected in specific areas of facial tissue to add definition or reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It consists of the chemical hyaluronic acid, 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE), and 0.3% of the drug lidocaine to reduce pain on injection. SKINVIVE by Juvéderm injectable gel is indicated for intradermal injection to improve facial skin smoothness of the cheeks in people 21 years of age and older. When evaluated in a clinical study of 209 people, SKINVIVE by Juvéderm was found to be effective at improving facial skin smoothness in the cheeks. This effect lasted for at least six (6) months.

SKINVIVE by Juvéderm should not be used for people who have:
- Severe allergies with a history of anaphylaxis
- A history or known presence of multiple severe allergies
- A known sensitivity or allergy to gram-positive bacterial proteins
- Any known allergies to lidocaine

Microneedling is used to treat a variety of skin conditions that cause depressions in the skin such as acne scarring, surgical scars, other scars, burns, enlarged pores, wrinkles, and stretch marks. (The procedure is less effective on deep, narrow “ice-pick” acne scars than on broader ones.)

Microneedling does not deliver heat to the skin like lasers do. As a result, people who have melasma (dark patches of skin) and hyperpigmentation (dark spots on the skin) can undergo microneedling without the risk of worsening pigmentation problems. (Darker skin is susceptible to pigmentation changes as a post-inflammatory response.)

Microneedling is sometimes used to help topical skin treatments to penetrate the skin more effectively. For example, microneedling is sometimes performed before application of minoxidil, used to treat common hair loss (androgenic alopecia, which affects both men and women).
